Greubel Forsey launches new limited edition Balancier Convex S2
The design of the new Greubel Forsey version focuses on its movement.
The real allure behind luxury watch design lies in the construction of the complex movements that drive each watch. The watchmakers at Greubel Forsey pride themselves on offering exclusive designs with high-end complications in their elegant watch collections. Greubel Forsey is proud to announce the latest limited edition Balancier Convex S2. The new Balncier Convex S2 features a lightweight 43.5mm titanium case that is perfectly curved to fit comfortably on the wrist of any watch collector. Part of the skeletonized dial highlights the inner workings of the watch, while the other half has a traditional matte black finish.
The new Balancier Convex S2 is powered by Greubel Forsey’s in-house hand-wound movement, with its patented double balance wheel inclined at 20 degrees, which operates the hours, minutes, small seconds and power reserve function. The back cover of this watch is engraved with the engraving of Greubel Forsey's special limited edition watch. Each Grebuel Forsey Balancier Convex S2 comes with a choice of a comfortable black nylon strap or a traditional titanium 3-row metal bracelet.
Greubel Forsey decided to revisit the design of the Balancier S, bringing the Balancier S2 to life: a watch that embodies the strongest elements of the original Balancier S, but emphasizes them, making them more contemporary. Forgoing the soft lines and sober aesthetic, the new timepiece features the same movement as the previous model, but with a new case and new finishes.
Greubel Forsey’s emphasis on contrast enhances the legibility of the dial, with the balance bridge between 5 and 9 o’clock positioned on a black or dark gray background with sharp edges, while a handcrafted matt-effect pearl finish accentuates the bridges and hour markers, reducing aesthetics to the extreme. The 12-hour scale soars through the dial space without a minute track. For the first time, the central bridge plate with its double-arched titanium is openworked, a choice also in line with the desire to lighten the lines in favor of an essential aesthetic.
The new titanium strap reinforces this dynamism, seamlessly extending the lines of the titanium case and giving it a solid feel. The slightly larger case diameter gives the Balancer S2 a more assertive character than its predecessor. The 46.5mm case now features a brushed titanium bezel with polished sides, traditionally engraved with Greubel Forsey's key values.
Likewise, the lid no longer bears the distinctive "Greubel Forsey" logo, but instead features a modern circular pattern designed exclusively for this model. The "Greubel Forsey" logo appears below the inner bezel between the 12 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions. Above are the hour and minute hands in white with luminescent finish.
